If you are nearsighted, and flat masks are blurry in distant viewing, then the HO mask is a no-brainer purchase. I will never go back to a flat mask again.
Not only is my UW vision sharply focussed now, but the wide angle field of view coupled with the true distance depth (things are exactly as far as they appear) is absolutely worth the cost.
The plastic lens is really not an issue. I have never scratched mine, because I put the mask cover on it as soon as I'm done with it.
Neat to hear that John Chatterton uses one. So does David Doubilet.
What you have to consider is the importance of the visual experience of diving. You spend thousands on gear and going to the exotic dive destinations. All for just a few 45 minute dives per day. Since the time underwater is REALLY what you are there for, what is 200 bucks amertised over your next few hundred dives?
I'm actually able to spot paleagics and other marine life faster than my dive buddies because . . . are you ready for this? I can SEE MORE. What a concept.
