I like the tin foil liner as well. Pencils wrapped in tin foil is genius. You could also use drill bits. No fuss and a perfect fitting V.
 
I wrapped pencils with aluminum foil and stuck them in the holes before pouring the lead. Surprisingly, the pencils didn't burn.

How did you close off the ends ?
 
Muffin/pastry tins are cheap and come in a million different shapes.
 
Draft angle is a small outward angle you put in the mold so the part will come out of the mold. You do not want a straight wall or worse yet an inward angle as the part will tend to stick in the mold.
 
How did you close off the ends ?
I made an aluminum foil wall at each end and plugged the holes with foil-wrapped pencils. I melted eleven pounds of old weights in a pot on the stove, then poured it into the channel of the plate. It came out perfect and I used it for several years.
