We're headed down to Key Largo for an extended weekend starting Nov 5th. Curious what the current water temps are, so I know how much neoprene -- if any -- to pack.

Anybody been out recently and know the temps at various depths?

Thanks!

Eileen

Temps are hovering around 83 degrees right now. Go to my online calendar and you can see what my captains and the divers are reporting off the dive logs.

I think you'll be OK with a 3 mil and maybe a hood for right now.

Good Diving,

NOAA has your answer: Check this website that has windspeed, water temp, air temp, etc. NDBC - Station MLRF1

Thanks for the sites, but neither says at what depths those temps are. Our mooring buoys have temps for 3', 6', 30', and 60'.

Do the temps differ that much by depth there? I was hoping to wear shorts and a rash guard, but wonder how cold I'll be on the Grove.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Hey Eileen,

Sorry the temps reported on my website by our divers is the reported bottom temp of that dive.

As Brent indicated pack for high 70's low 80's and you'll be fine.

Good Diving,

Excellent! Thanks guys.

I guess this means I have to pack some neoprene.

I was there 4 days ago night dives were 76-77 degree's and during the day it was 79-81 degrees

I would not - you will likely be cold

In November we don't experience thermoclines as a rule - on the deeper wrecks it may be a degree or 2 cooler at depth

Thanks for all the info folks! We had temps between 75-77. I was a bit chilly at first in a 3mm, but adjusted just fine by dive 2, 3, 4, ...
