runway1, Not really coming over with the SCD group but I have dove a half a dozen times in the past when dive buddies not around and I want a dive in to get wet.... but I'll look for you at the park. oh,ya..I'm the gray short hair good looking one.:dork2:

Diving Casino Point again on the 15th. Can anybody report current conditions? Viz, water temp?

Also, did they put those darn rocks back? In January, after they moved the rocks around, low tide diving was considerably more difficult. Those rocks proved to be a formidable obstacle at low tide. Did they move them again or are they in the same place? Thanks all!

Your morning dive will be fine. Your second dive will be a brutal exit with a -.4 low tide at 12:34 PM.

With that much water moving, current will be ripping in the AM and in the PM, but around 12:15 to 12:45 you'll probably have subsided current with the slack.

Nudis were fierce last weekend. My report and pics are here: Linky

Vis is not as good as people are reporting. DrB has it pegged at about 20-ish. Slightly better deeper (90 - 110.)

Have a great trip. I sure did last weekend.

Thanks, Ken. Yeah I checked the tide charts and it looks low for my second and third dives. We'll see if I go for that third one.

dwaters.....funny. I'll keep an eye out for you ;)

I'm the good looking guy with the proper haircut.

I have no idea what a proper haircut looks like so I don't think I'd be able to pick you out of all the people there :)

Anyway, I'll be out there both Saturday and Sunday... Pink/black DUI drysuit, blonde hair. Not very difficult to find me, so say Hi if you see me...

Missy

Was down at the dive park about 3:00 PM. NOT A SINGLE DIVER in the park, UW or topside. Go figure. I didn't look to see if the fill station was open. There was a decent wind blowing with some wimpy whitecaps outside the park.

Sorry Missy; When a man (another assumption - I'm really digging a hole here:shakehead:) describes a "proper" haircut, that usually means he's bald - I have a shaved head an easy to find.

Anyhow, Saturday was pretty rough. Our group had a great, great dive about 9:00 AM but when we exited - wow. With those 2-footers slapping you up against those rocks, it wasn't easy to exit. We had some bruises.

I started the domino by telling my buddy; "I just don't need to risk this. I'm sitting out the remaining day.". Although nobody heard that…. 20 minutes later, another group member says; "I was just watching those divers exit and I’m not doing a second.". Well, the dominos fell and our entire group of ~16-18 divers called it a day.

I think we were about the only folks there, anyhow! So, as we entered the proper eating/drinking establishment down the road, there go the EMTs to the Point. Then, upon boarding the Express for the trip back at 2:05 PM, there go another batch of EMTs to the point!

Those rocks suck. They were better where they were in December. Where they are now is outright precarious, at best, and dangerous at low tide. They need to be moved - my 2 cents.

Wonder if any of you made it over here this weekend since the boats were not always making it across the rough channel. I only saw two divers in the water at Noon today. We went out on the King Neptune yesterday and my vest must have been blown right off the deck by the wind since it was nowhere to be seen when I went to suit up for the first dive (which I skipped). I did the second dive, but after we were back on board, we had to abort the third dive and hightail it back to Avalon from Long Point as it was really getting windy and white caps were everywhere. Gale force wind warnings and boats were canceled after 3:00 pm yesterday and this morning from what I've been told.

ya, Paul and I called it after the late morning dive (our second of the day on Saturday)... after watching my buddy get a lucky surf in on his knees landing about 2 feet up the stairs, I said " I can do that"..ya' right...I took two men to help me crawl to safety after getting slammed. ouch! By our second dive viz was getting close to Laguna standard BUT we still had fun and stayed safe, so it was a good day after all. We were fortunate to catch the last boat back to LongBeach or we would have called you, Bill for a place to spend the night....lucky you!!!

Sorry Bill, I wanted to but my wife had other designs on her mind. Looks like it was tough sleding anyway.

I was diving the park on Saturday morning... Entry and exit were a little tricky, but conditions below 25' weren't bad at all..
Worth a 2nd dive? I dont think sooooooooooo..

on a sidenote, a lady who also had a pink drysuit walked up to me and said "you must be missy.. i've had 3 people ask if I was you" :rofl3:
