Used Caribbean Sea Sports at the Marriot. Not service oriented, carry your gear back and forth, no help with set ups etc. Compared to other dive shops I used in Curacao they did the least. We had a rough week with the ocean and storms, limited good dive sites. In the future suggest anyone dive the West End, healthy reefs and more fish. Locals seem to have fished out the rest. This was my 4th trip to Curacao.

If you're staying on the East end, let me put in a plug for Mark & Suzy at The Dive Bus. Can't go wrong with them. Small groups, very personable. Personally, I don't want anybody setting up my gear, but that's me.

i am sorry for you. lucky for us weather broke yesterday dove directors bay was typical curacao (awesome) also using new op as our favorite is on holiday... using curious to dive... hans really really good op, has home as dive shop but so what... all shore dives anyway. hans is overboard to help as i am recovering from knee surgery he helped with the equipment to the water :). wife is not so good with confidence and he was right there with pointers. anyway for one on one this guy is really swell. not to knock dive bus i think they are fine also.

Agreed, maybe because I am used to Carolina diving, but nobody touches my gear when I set it up, and carring my own gear to the dock? (I rarely have anyoen carry it for me)

Anyway, I know nothing of the dive op, nor have I ever dove Curacao - but I always question a poster who has 6 posts and is complaining about a dive op.

I just got back from Curacao and dove with Carribean Sea Sports and did many shore dives. I always tote and place my own gear and also recommend them. Diving was tough and they certainly had some good dives. They also will be offering dives to eastpoint in the near future. I also dove the west end and there weren't that many more fish there. This is of course my opinion.

Anybody that wants to base out of the west (Banda Abou area, about 20 minutes from town) just give us a shout! Working with Truck Divers who pick you up and drop you off for free and is run by the folks who wrote the Curacao Dive Guide, over the top professionals who know the island like the back of their hand.
Enjoy a great weekend!

Hi, do you mean Trunk Divers? I'm going down and considering diving with them but I haven't heard about them.

your reason for calling them "not service oriented" is because they didnt carry your gear or set it up for you

my god, not to rant, but having worked in the industry for over 5 years i think you should be resposible for carrying your 50 lbs of gear and should accept responsibilty for your gear setup.... where has all of the personal responsibility gone with traveling divers.....

i personally also do not want anyone to touch my gear also; however, depending on the location and conditions i am also thankful for a helping hand to hand off the setup onto a boat, if that is offered.

although the op has only 6 posts, he has a number of dives and has dived with other shops in curacao before. i would not have written the post but he has his reason why he did it.

my satisfaction with what i expect eventually translates into tip money.

Returned from Two weeks at allwest in westpunt. first time to curacao but 10th time to region (9 times Bonaire). Nov 17- Nov 30th. Great diving but lots of rain and reduced visibility. Thought diving was great could only imagine if visibility was better. Reinforced my desire though to never boat dive again, sorry but find "divers" armed with cameras to be rude divers and plan to avoid boats in my future. Only dove in the west but very impressed with dives I did except Watamula-- too much current, never actually saw it just went flying out to sea. Oh well maybe next time but that goes back to my boat experience... so maybe not.
Anyway highly recommend Allwest and Curacao diving.
