We are flying in on Insel air from Miami to Curacao. Our flight arrives in Curacao at 18:30 and the connecting flight (also on Insel, but a different plane), depart Curacao to Bonaire at 19:45. Are we cutting it too close for our baggage to make it on the plane to Curacao? It's only an hour and 15minute layover.

It's a pretty small airport....I don't think you'll have a problem. I don't think it took 20mins. for our bags and to clear customs - we weren't going on but staying on Curacao - in 2007. We arrived about 3PM.

That should be plenty of time, as Steve says, Curasao airport is small. Plus Insel has several flights (along with several others) between Bon and Cur everyday so even if they miss the flight, it's likely they will be there in a few more hours. No place is far from the Bon airport so going back to get them would not be a big deal either.

Thanks for the replies and for the picture. Makes me feel better.

It does look like our flight from Curacao to Bonaire is the last one of the day. So I guess if worse come to worse, we would have to wait til the next morning to get our luggage? Not the worst problem in the world.

We will be going in May 2011, so I understand that's the slow season, right? Maybe that will help in our favor too.

I just hope we will get ourselves from one plane to the other in time

It's a little slower then. Just be sure to take the important items with you as carry-on. Regs, mask, bathing suit, C-card and the like. You can always get rental BCs and fins until your stuff arrives if you have to- I have heard of seveal shops giving their customers rental gear until theirs arrives so gear is not really a big deal. The Bonaire airport is very small so it's not a hassle to go back and get your luggage like it is at some airports. I am going to miss you by a month, I have plans for early April.
