My wife and I are planning a June or July trip to Curacao. I've seen lots of comments on Lions Dive and Habitat, but any input on the Mariott? My wife has TONS of Mariott points, so it's always nice to use those for lodging if possible, but we don't want to stay there if one of the others would be a MUCH better choice.

Also, are there any forums that deal exclusively with Curacao? Really got some great info off the Aruba board when we went there last October.

Thanks much for any input!!!!!

I have never been to the Mariott, but friends of mine used their Mariott points and stayed there and it's now her favorite Mariott in the world. She said it was quite nice. If you want to see some pictures of it, go to www.scubadiving.com and search in the trip reports, I believe the title was Curacao with a non-diving spouse, you can always just scroll back thru the pages of reports to find it also. I believe it was posted last May or June, so you may have to go back 10-12 pages to find it.

They have a dive shop there that is highly spoke of and you can always go with whoever you want on the island, just call and make arrangements. My friend said the snorkeling in front of the hotel was nice, but there are many other great snorkeling spots on the island.

There is a site for Curacao, www.caribline.com will get you there. Great information. We have spent 6 weeks on Curacao and love the island. You will need a car to get out and about to the westend and remote beaches. The shorediving is wonderful. If you need more information feel free to email me.

Hope you have a great trip.

It's me again, on the trip report I mentioned at www.scubadiving.com I rechecked and it was posted june 2, 2003. To find the trip reports go under community and you will be taken to their current board. At the top of the page there are a few current reports listed, but just below that you will find the trip report view button to get into the past reports.

The resort is lovely, with outstanding location, landscaping & staff. You shouldn't be disappointed.

Do be aware that Curacao can be an expensive island. Although Marriott's food & drink prices are not outlandish, they are not cheap, either. There are a number of good & more economical eateries within walking distance.

Best regards.

Sharon and Doc, thanks so much for the info!!! It looks like a great place to stay and the diving sounds nice as well.

Regarding the cost, I didn't thnk it would be a bargin trip, I would assume it's priced similar to Aruba, and we were there in October. Since my wife travels so much we have free airfare and will use her points at the Mariott, that sure makes most vacations much more affordable!

My wife and I stayed next door at the Sheraton last fall. check out my trip report under my signature. I think it's working again. Any questions, fire away!
