The vis at CSSP can be 20-30 feet at times. Unfortunately, I'm not going to get to come out this weekend. I'll have to see again in a few weeks. :(

Having dove CSSP for a couple of years now....I would say I doubt that is correct. It's a quarry; there is always somewhat of a thermocline...somewhere. This time of year I'd expect it about 20ft. My DM buddy that's out there today says surface temp is 70...I'm figuring 65 (or a little less) at 20ft and you'll loose another 5 degrees about 10-15ft deeper...it's a quarry. Not a second thermocline, just gradually colder the deeper you go. (Now if you happen to dive the silos or the revine where the coffin is, expect a good chill - even in the middle of summer.)

Vis...there are days you grow to love your compass and there are days you can see the plane or boat from 20ft. "Good" is a relative term when you're talking vis at CSSP. As the body of water warms it starts turning and vis can get really cruddy...but it seems the water needs to hit a good 70 at the thermocline for a couple weeks before that process gets started. Throw in the student factor - there are a few classes out there this weekend. I would expect an average of 10-12ft vis, but there is a strong possibility that you could see 15ft.

Just my experience at CSSP, acquired by diving every other weekend from April through October. Your mileage may vary.

Damn!!!! Why am sitting here on this stupid computer when I could be diving???? Note to self...got to get my head checked!

Sounds like at least three of us (JChapman3, Kunk35, Illini_Fan) will be at CSSP right around 10:30 or so on Sunday. As of now, the plan is to park near the Scubatoys new pavilion.

I have seem vis better than 15ft. at CSSP on several occasions. :D

On the surface doesn't count!...:D

I'll be out with John and Illini_fan Sunday. After this week, man I can't wait to get underwater!

Hey youz guys going to CSSP,,,just head north to Lake Murray,,,no entry fee.

Been there done that... we've been to Murray the past 7 dives for the past 2 months... we're ready to go find our treasure, but thought we'd take an easy trip this time.

Well CSSP is an OK spot for a day of diving....I am frankly ready to try some other watering holes outside this general area,,,think I will just do that!! Have a great day... :D

Come on up to Lake Murray with us next time...we'll show you the ropes (there's lots of them down there...holy smokes.). If you've got any time during the week; I could make a trip any day during the week (I'm driving to OKC on Saturday; so I'd be game for a Friday dive/camp trip, but I'd have to be scoot'n out of the lake by 9am Saturday.). (I need to get some dives in ... Kory has got 5 or so more than me in the dive counter so I need to get some filler dives in...)

jc3.

You aren't thinking about "dive buddie cheating" on me are you?:light:
