Cos'è una eprom:

It appears that this procedure can only be applied by authorised Cressi service centers, possibly employing a special software for accessing (and modifying) the internal firmware of the device through the IR interface, or through some sort of electrical connection inside the battery compartment.
I doubt that Cressi will ever allow final users to do the same at home!
So, if you face the problem, you have to contact Cressi for support, either through a local store, or shipping the unit back to factory.

This is the point, if the customer is not given the opportunity to self-update the defect of the computer in question which as you can read online is very well known
a recall should be made or free assistance should be given to everyone not only to those still under warranty as it is a programming and reprogramming defect of the firmware / eprom
for which I repeat to date there is no definitive answer in this regard, other than to pay a service center to correct a defect of the computer ...
So given that there is no way out
neither independently nor for free,
as far as I am concerned Cressi has certainly lost at least one customer...........

Correct, they are reflashing the whole EPROM during this procedure. They are even changing serial numbers of computer if they are not printed near battery cover (in older computer they marked them, but newer are without serial numbers on rear side). I've asked local polish Cressi service and they said only few Cressi service centers are capable to fix it.

Just got my 3 year old Cressi Leonardo dive watch out and it had a flat battery,
Replaced it but now has no display, it beeps and the backlight works,
Please can anyone help on got any advice what to do.
Regards Glenn
I had the same problem with a Cressi Giotto. I tried several solutions discussed in this forum: different brands of batteries, putting it in GAGE mode, and even connecting it to a high-precision external voltage source. After many hours of trying, I managed to get the screen to show the information again. What I did was the System-Reset procedure, even with the screen blank. I put in the new battery, waited a few seconds. I pressed the buttons in the order to perform the System-Reset, according to the manual. After finishing, I waited a few minutes until I heard a beep. The screen was still blank. So I removed the battery and put it back in. The screen returned to normal. The sequence of commands for the Giotto: MODE, left button, MODE, left button, MODE, left button, MODE. After the last MODE command, wait for a while, until you hear the BEEP. Wait a little longer. Remove the battery. Replace the battery. The screen came back to life.

I asked if it was a firmware update, but he answered no. It is another procedure. So I decided to try a little more by myself. What I did was the System-Reset procedure, even with the screen blank. Just wanted to say that I had a good experience contacting Cressi customer support. I had this same issue with a Leonardo watch (display dead, but watch making all the noises and seemingly working). Michael from Cressi asked for proof of purchase and then told me to send the watch to their location in New Jersey (US). After about 2 weeks, they shipped the watch back to me (fixed), and they also took care of return shipping. I like that they stand by their product.
