I am looking at the Cressi Rondine Pro Star fins. LP is selling them for $34.95. They are also selling the Gara 2000's for $72.95 Does anybody have an opinion about full foot fins in general and/or on those two models in particular?

Rodales tests always give full foot fins better marks than the same model fin in open heel. Seeing as I dive open heel fins in cold water mostly, I've no experience with them.

I have a pair of Cressi SpaceFrog fins, which recently cracked - the LDS I was getting fills from that particular day said that it's not unusual, and that their Cressi rental fins last about 12 months before cracking or splitting - the plastic becomes brittle. The fins are great in the water though, and for $35, you can't complain! Mine were $280 AUD in Australia a few years ago, so I had good reason to complain.

I much prefer my full foot fins vs. my open heel fins. The full foot are tremendously lighter and I find I have more control over them than the open heel.

Conversely my open heel are good for boats or places where there is a rough shore line and wearing booties to walk around makes things just that much more comfortable.

For about 85% of my dives I wear my full foot fins. I'm getting the Cressi Pro Light full foot this spring. :)
