As a recovered Christian, even having escaped from the Christian brainwashing factory after 5 years, I can understand why Christians have their beliefs about things like this, and insist on clinging to them for dear life. What I could never understand is this overwhelming urge some of them have to impose those beliefs on others. I don't push, I push back. This thread was started by a user who clearly wanted to push this creation BS on everyone in the forum. Those of us who understand and accept evolution feel little need to start a conversation with creationists about this topic. It is quite tedious and, frankly, leaves a bad taste in our mouthes many times.

If you believe that your God will throw anyone who doesn't literally believe every single word in the bible at face value directly to hell, then I have to tell you, hell is where I want to be, because I have no need for such a rash and irrational god. Please, quit trying to save my soul. I am quite happy with it right now. Worry about your own, if you must.

three cheers for gangrel!!!

However, have you all noticed how even atheism has become a sort of organized religion? Do a search for atheist sites, and you might be shocked by how many sites are out there that have organized followers!

I might just have to become an atheist to atheism...good grief:D

I just stumbled on this thread and, of course, have not read all 410 posts. The thread began as a question of creationism v evolution and I do have an opinion which I find to be logical. I will offer a hypothetical situation streched to the extreme:

If you were placed in a large cell for eternity and offered the following choice, which option would you select? Option #1 would be total, complete control and knowledge of your favorite subject. If you are a Civil War buff then you could have a library with every book related to the subject, relics, and a scale model battlefield with tin soldiers, artillery, etc. Every soldier, every horse is perfect and moves only where it is placed by you. Total, absolute, undeniable control and knowledge.

Option #2 is a large aquarium with numerous life forms, some control over the general environment, all the necessary equipment to support life and an eternity to see what happens, to watch, to enjoy the miracle of life.

I don't see any purpose in absolute control, no pleasure, no long term interest. The whole point of life is freedom and development, improvement, the act of "becoming".

DiverBry:
Are you 100% sure about that? ;)
