I watched a two hour program yesterday on the History channel called before the dinosaurs, or something to that extent. They claimed 4.4 billion years.
So the Hitler Channel got it wrong. Earth=4.4, Universe=14+

awap:
There appears to be plenty of scientific evidence that evolutuion has been occuring for quite some time.

Oh really. My wife says I haven’t changed one bit in 31 years of marriage, so that disproves evolution.:D Therefore, I was created.

What's the difference between ignorance and stupidity?
Ignorance is curable.
Evidently not.<G>

H2Andy:
i can tell you this, "God created it" is not a satisfactory scientific answer, though it is certainly a valid spiritual belief.

you just don't seem to undertsand why it is not a satisfactory scientific answer, and i suspect that is because you know very little about science

I do understand your position, you don't have faith in God or believe his word, so for you it is not valid. From a scientific view it is not valid, true.

I stated this was a stalemate (and it is) because you nor I can prove either. You must have faith in God to believe creation which you don't seem to, and you must be able to back the creation of time with concrete science to prove evolution, which you can't. To believe evolution you must believe that you can get something from nothing, a clear deviation from science from which the theory is based.

BTW, you suspect wrong...

the Earth, yes

i doubt they would get such a basic fact wrong. you probably misunderstood something

you keep missing the point

i can DISPROVE my scientific knowledge based on new facts

you can never DISPROVE your belief in God based on new facts

see the difference?

the bottom line is that science allows for constant testing of hypothesis and theories, which, if found to be incorrect, are revised to reflect the new facts known or are discarded altogether

the SYSTEM is inherently different from a faith-based God system, and the results are inherently different as a result

that's what i'm talking about

evolution is based on a great deal of data and first-hand observation, over and over, and it has been confirmed over and over. i have no faith in evolution. i understand the data, and i understand why evolution makes sense as a theory.

and like any scientific theory, if evolution is disproved, i'll celebrate because we're improving our knowledge of the world and the universe

Soggy:
Either that show was from the 1970s, or you misunderstood something.

No misunderstanding and it was fully animated with lots of very real looking pre-dinosaurs. Don't take my word for it, look through the listings, it may be on again this weekend.

Fully animated with with lots of very real looking dinosaurs, and on the History Channel to boot. My my, that is an authoritative reference.
