Truth and reality are not determined by ballot.Gdog:Wow.....this thread went wild. There are many arguments, and each can be defended with great emotion. I understand most points on both sides. However, if this were a poll, my vote is Creation.
Fuzzmutton:Okaaay. H2Andy, you came back again and said that you wanted a scripture that said it was round, but round as is a sphere. I get it, I really do, but show me a verse where it says that they thought it was flat. Isaiah described it as a circle because he was talking about it from God's perspective, from the heavens the earth would appear to be circular, the same as the moon appears circular to us, not a globe shape. The Bible is written in, umm, "prosy" terms, like most books were at that time. That doesn't mean that the writer, Isaiah, thought the earth was flat. Have you ever heard anyone say, "The setting sun was beautiful today!" or anything like that? Would you suggest that they believe that the sun rotates around the earth?
My Grandmother used to say-
A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.
I believe that, don't you? This thread isn't accomplishing anything except giving people a place to bash other peoples ideas and beliefs and exchange insults. Since having these discussions make me irritable and cranky I shall bow out rather than continue in an uncivil manner.
AXL72:Fuzz, did u check out the link to the online coloring book from the bible. That chit will calm your nerves faster than five tranks in the arse of a tiger.
I spent hours coloring and calming my nerves after realizing how cruel Jesus and God were by ignoring the South American and North American cultures on the other side of the earth. Luckily, out of the goodness and charity of their heart (yeah right) the Spaniards and English came and tought them about God so they could start dying and going to heaven. Unfortunately it was over a thousand years after Jesus died on the stick. So many generations just perished in the fires of hell for no other reason other than not accepting Jesus and the christian God...or the jewish God...or the Muslim God. These other cultures simply were not taought by man to know any of these deities. How sad, right?
Even sadder is that, as you say, the bible specifically spelled out that the earth was a sphere, and the slothing christians did not get off their arses to go save these other cultures on the other side of the earth. It is so depressing, I think I am gonna go color some more.![]()
aquanuts...:Can you back this claim with scientific evidence?
Thalassamania:Truth and reality are not determined by ballot.
Actually we took a vote, and they are.Green_Manelishi:Affirmative. Nor are they always determined by "science".
