Also read the last dozen times someone brought up Transitional fossils in this thread, it is not a new argument.

True, and everytime the evolutionists bring it up, I'm going to put them down.

Whose next...Charles Dawson?

No good can be had from the viewpoints of zelots, and this is the word that you will recieve in this type of thread.

I'm not here to flame annyone, I'm just saying : If you want to talk Politics, Talk to people who want to hear it, the conversion process is long, hard, and tough, and it might get your nose bent in the process....The same, or perhaps a bit worse with Religon!

dude, have you read the past 140 pages, or are you just opposed to religion on principle?

and if you don't want to hear it... simple .... don't read this thread

not exactly. a law is a summary observation of strictly empirical matters. basically, it says HOW something has been observed to happen for the past gizillion years or whatever, and it assumes it will continue to happen that way.

it doesn't explain WHY it happens.

that's what a theory does.

so you see, your basic understanding of these matters is somewhat flawed

;)

Hypothesis vs.Theory vs. Law

• Hypothesis – possible explanation

• Theory - more comprehensive

– Theory of Evolution

– Theory of Relativity

• Law: theory that yields true predictions in many experiments & almost universally accepted

– Law of Gravity

Can someones nose get bent? Would it be a nasal DCS NDCS??

Good Diving to all

DiverBry:
• Law: theory that yields true predictions in many experiments & almost universally accepted

– Law of Gravity

that's too simplistic a definition.

try this:

A physical law, scientific law, or a law of nature is a scientific generalization based on empirical observations of physical behavior. They are typically conclusions based on repeated scientific experiments over many years, and which have become accepted universally within the scientific community.

[snip]

Physical laws are distinguished from scientific theories by their simplicity. Scientific theories are generally more complex than laws; they have many component parts, and are more likely to be changed as the body of available experimental data and analysis develops. This is because a physical law is a summary observation of strictly empirical matters, whereas a theory is a model that accounts for the observation, explains it, relates it to other observations, and makes testable predictions based upon it. Simply stated, while a law notes that something happens, a theory explains why and how something happens.

Dear Nods:

Although I have read nany pages of this thread, and for the most part it has not become Hostile, I question the allowence of discussion of this topic...

You disallow political topics, which I understand, decause discussion leads to bebate....et.al...............CAT FIGHT

But you allow religious topics???????????? whitch lead to the same thing.

I do not think that you want to polerise your menbership, but this kind of thread is a real quick way to acomplish that.

Take heed if you will, from the sucessfull fraternities, and ban politics & religion as a topic of debate. No good can be had from the viewpoints of zelots, and this is the word that you will recieve in this type of thread.

ScubaBoard is a great place to learn, and share information, I for one (and I do not expect this opion to be popular) do not think that this thread has any place on this website.

End of sermon.....FLAME ON

How about we discuss spelling and grammer as an indication of the overall intelligence of internet posters...nah...

So, one has to ponder...

Even though someone created this thread, it sure has evolved dramatically.

And Wilkie... Almost 1,400 posts and this thread has YET to become acrimonious. I think the Nods are doing a great job! :D

I admit that I haven't read the whole thread but I'm not opposed to religion on principle Andy, tho i did read a good sample, However my comment stands, and I stand by it, my statement, if you failled to understand it, is simplified thus: Polite conversation should not sway into areas of Politics,or Religion - end of statement.

Now I also admit that in other threads ( after re reading - must have been feeling hostile at the time) I was harsh in my responce to your commints, and I apoligise If I have caused offince......I submit my heart felt apoligy,.... or it must be pistols at dawn.............However I must tell you that I am an exceptionally good shot,.............. and I would much rather be your friend.
