I love looking at all these cool photos! Out of curiosity, perhaps gauged by my intuition from various interactions, but I would love to know what other divers feel about which eel types seem to have the most pissy disposition and which seem to have a more easy going and friendly disposition? I personally feel the spotted ones are in the first category, the green ones in the second.

I believe all eels are close to blind and find all food sources by smell alone. Just don't wiggle a finger in front of them, or point at one for that matter, as they might bite.

For me, the chain moray is definitely the most shy.... and the sharptail is the most calm and friendly. I have not run into a cranky eel.

Ohhhh... the first guy with the deformed lower jaw makes me sad, but it looks like he's a big guy. I hope so!

This one always makes me think of Will Smith in Men in Black saying,
"Something's peeking!"

Love the way this guy is interwoven through the coral head as if he believes he's all hidden inside it.

I'm still editing my photos from this trip but these are done & and not the usual stuff we see. This was shot on Paradise on Feb 8 and they begin with the basic call for me to come & photograph an eel one of the divers in our group had found. I took a few shots getting closer on each one when I noticed a diver bringing a Lionfish on a spear. He lured the eel out of the hole & made it work for every single bit of the Lionfish, and it was quite a show. As things wound down I looked at the other divers to see how they had enjoyed it only to realize I was now in a new group. Their DM realized that & pointed where mine had headed so off I went and in about a minute I re joined them. I think that DM was from Del Mar Aquatics & I owe him a tip for all the great photo ops.
