In your guys opinion would diving in Cozumel, be ok for a first time diver, you know with the drift diving set up? :eyebrow:

yes because you have experienced DM's with you and the current is not that bad.....i expected more from Coz. It was awesome...but difficulty level or challenge level...low

i have been lucky to have an experienced dive buddy which i am sure has helped.

Do yourself a favor and dive Coz. It's not much harder than a swimming pool. Keep your eye on the SPG and just kind of float along - don't exert yourself because the DM will take you down to 80 feet and you can use up air quick if you're a newbie. I had to escort a frat stud up to the surface, last trip, because his superhot girlfriend was 200 feet out in front of him when he ran out of air. He had such a lock on my secondary regulator that the viens in his forearm stood out. When he started signaling the DM grabbed me because I was the only guy with a wetsuit and he concluded I was experienced.

Yes, but let your DM know your experience level. Listen closely during the dive briefings.

Took a buddy to Coz for his first ocean dive. He loved it! Forget about your apprehensions and just do it.

Hello 007.

Don't worry about diving Cozumel as a new diver. Just pick out a dive operator from the ones recommended on this Board. Tell them you are a new diver and they will conduct themselves accordingly! You are going to have a marvelous time!

(Poster's Note: the rest of this post is pretty lame, but I could not help myself. It reads best using an English accent - I like to use James Mason's)!

I say Rah 007! Welcome to the Board.

I believe the last time I saw you was during a nasty piece of work east of the old Brandenberg Gate! Did they ever tell you that you shot the wrong man?

By the way James, in case you are wondering, you may remember me as Thomas St. James Smythe or Ehud Arnon or Igor Vonestompkin. I can't recall who I was back then. I was attached to the Mossad in those days. But now I'm providing a bit-of-a-lift to the Pakistani's.

Is it true they retired you? I heard you kept shooting the wrong people. Created a bit of a sticky wicket, did you?

I'd like to offer you lunch at my Club, old boy. I can still be reached through Downing Street. Just leave a message for the Iman Rockbar Ashraf and I'll get back to you.

ROTFLMAO!

Yes, beware! Don't go! Cozumel is highly addicting and can have a detrimental affect on your wallet!

Chiming in here...

Yes, Cozumel is a great dive destination for divers at all skill levels, but I am compelled to reinforce something that others have said - BE SURE that the dive op you go with is absolutely clear on the fact that you are a novice diver. Yes, there are some very easy dives at Cozumel, but the warm, clear water can lure you into complacency; you can be on a 50 foot dive plan and suddenly find yourself well over 100 feet down before you realize it if you are not paying attention.
