The wife and I are planning our first trip to Cozumel this summer. Would mid June or mid July be better?

Are the conditions any different between these two options? Less chance of bad storms in June?

Thanks.

June...not as hot...possibly less people traveling....July is a big travel month...kids out of school etc....hurricanes can happen at any time...I would say that June would less of a risk than July....:) once the seas start heating up...so do the storms

Either month you will likely encounter calm sea conditions; while hurricanes are a factor during that time period, the real activity does not usually begin until mid August - mid October.

You can get a storm June - November, so its prudent to monitor the weather, but I would not worry during the time you mentioned.

Here is the National Hurricane Centers web site - look at this before you go and it will tell you what's going on storm wise:

We went in mid June last year and did not get any rain and the seas were great. In my experience it seems like the hurricanes are later as everyone says, maybe starting in late July but again possible in June too. Funny that June is low season since conditions are generally good, kids are out of school and the heat is not completely on. I guess the rays are mostly gone by then but this seems to be the best time for us to go.

IMO, the earlier the better during summer months.......ie tropical storm/hurricane chances go up greatly after June....lately August, Sept, & even Oct have been killers--& I have 1st hand experience....lol

The later in the spring/summer you go to Cozumel, the hotter and rainier it will be. Hurricanes are such a rare event at any particular location that I (personally) don't take them much into account in my travel plans.
