My husband and I are planning on going to Cozumel in Aug.
Have never been before and can't wait to go diving there!
Is this a good or bad time of year to go? How busy is it usually?
What is the average water temp?

Topside it will be very hot & humid. Also, expect strong sun so go with an op that has a cover on the boat & use sunscreen.

It is, of course, traditional hurricane season so a tropical storm or worse is a possibility, but a small one. This wouldn't make me hesitant to go, but it does some others.

Water temps should be a comfortable 83-84 degrees, and vis upwards of 100' at most sites.

Do have fun.

I was there last August and Doc is right on the money.

I had some of the same questions.
There is so much good information on this board. I have learned alot from reading posts.

We (Diver Kat and I) are going to Cozumel on July 25.
We will be celebrating our 25th anniversary.

We found a reasonable airfare from Austin on Funjet.
We thought about all-inclusive resorts, but decided to experience Cozumel.

The folks at Villablanca have been great in providing information about their hotel and diving. I think we will be quite pleased with their accomodations and service.

We hope to dive with Papa Hogs.

One question: what would y'all do to celebrate a special event? I am thinking great food and music.

Thanks in advance,

Alan

Dinner at LaCocay. Ask him to play the Ella Fitzgerald/Louis Armstrong compilation CD.

Thanks everyone for the info. This message board has been
so helpful!!!! More questions though... Is Aug. typically
a busy time for Cozumel, slow season, or is it always busy there?
If I would wait to book my vacation 1 month in advance, will
that be risky?

Can't wait to go!!!!

De nada.

August is not the slowest time on Coz, but is among the slower.

As long you avoid the cruise ship crunches, I doubt very much that you'll find things too busy.

Have fun.

My husband and I are going to be celebrating our 25th anniversary in the Mayan Riviera/Cozumel in August too!

We are doing our OW dive training this month here in Seattle so we can spend our time diving there instead of being in a class. I'm so excited, I can't wait.

When will you be there? We are there 8/7 - 8/16.

Also looked at Papa Hogs website and thought about doing a dive with them.

DocVikingo once bubbled...
Where does one have dinner at Aldora?

Best regards.

DocVikingo

Sorry Doc. I have Aldora and LaCocay are so intertwined in my brain that I substituted one for the other! My bad.
