This reminds me of the early 80's when I was in Honduras doing a little thing. Had a pair of Beatle boots(zipper style) made on the street out of horse hide for L18 ($9US at the time. It would be 50 cents now since the Lempira is worth about a nickle intead of two bucks.). *****s hurt my feet terribly. I had a set of full dentures made for $75. Never did fit correctly. Dentists were everywhere, like cantinas and friendly ladies. I had a nose fix for $200. Thing was laid to one side for ten years. That one worked out nicely.

:rofl3: That's the funniest thing I've heard in about 2 months.

The timing of the resurrection of this thread couldn't be more ironic. I just finished extracting a molar from a patient who had a root canal and crown performed while on vacation in Mexico (by a dentist he was warned not to visit). I don't blame people for trying to save money, and I have quite a few patients who do receive major dental treatment (implants, crowns) in Mexico and problems aren't that common. Unfortunately when there is a problem it's generally difficult to resolve as I don't have access to treatment notes/etc. I've been compiling a list of offices in Mexico where the treatment rendered has been excellent, but I don't have any in Cancun/Cozumel/etc (generally non-diving destinations).

I tried to get a lower denture done in Coz and PDC but the lab work was going to take too long - done elsewhere. I went with a Cancun dentist which meant a lot more ground to cover - bus station, taxi to market area, half a day there, taxi, bus to PDC, ferry to Coz, then back track the whole trip again at the end of the trip. Hope your crown can be done faster.

Thanks for the info tho. I might see a local next time on adjustments.

My daughter and I saw Dr. Arteta a few months ago. We both are very pleased and think highly of him. I had nightmeres of a waiting room full of people holding chickens and goats to pay for their dental work, but of course it was nothing like that. It's not like the US, but it's fine and he's a real nice man and an excellent dentist.

Howdy. So who are you...?? :eyebrow:

A diver in the same boat...love the puns.

Was going to check out Puerto Rico for this next March...Coz might be ideal, since I can land there. All I need now is a decent hotel with decent Internet, so I can work away from work.

Services in PR are outstanding, btw, and probably a tad safer than Mexico...however Coz is like a separate country, I love the people there.
