Don't know about Tekila, but if you get interested in muck diving and looking or critters, there is a shore dive in front of Hotel Coz and Scuba Club. You can see some interesting sea life there...but very different from the boat dives.

Tikila is by Palmar condos and Casa del Mar.

Mario is who you want to talk to.

Nothing compared to boat dive reefs, a few coral heads, some concrete fish cribs.

It's where the underwater statues of Jaques and Ramon are.

If you can mount doubles, and don't mind a swim through boat infested waters, you can swim out to the wall and back.

Tekila is just south of Palmar condos , pretty much in front of cruise ships. the depth is around 20 ft and lots of small critters. You can start at tequila and end up at torquoise (blue angle south). If you want to swim to the wall area, you better know what you are doing. can be done on a single 80. Lots of boat traffic and sailing boats with deep keels....

Thanks for the info. My wife always puts us at Park Royal, so that is really close for me. My interest is poking around for macro photo opportunities.

where do I find Mario ?

Can you recommend any other shore dives that would be good for macro work ?

I like the shore dives at Blue Angel. Entry and exit are easy, tanks can be had for a decent price.
Along the sting ray prison there is quite a variety of critters, eels, fish, hermit crabs, lion fish, etc.
As you head south towards villa blanca there are several small corral heads with lots of small fish.
Depth is shallow 18-20' and you can hover on those corral heads as long as you want.
Boat traffic is light and not at all next to the pen.
Current usually flows from south to north. Most of the dives I've done the current has not been so strong that I've could not stay in one spot to watch stuff.

Second that on all points. I have done that dive many times, as I always stay at Blue Angel; I can decide to do it and be in the water in minutes. It doesn't replace boat diving but it's fun in the afternoon and at night.

Agreed here. If you are not staying at the Blue Angel but in town, just take a taxi down there. Cost probably has gone up to maybe 80 pesos +/- a few for the afternoon.
This is great way to get a nice long, we're talking up to 2 hour shore dive, then enjoy their happy hour or have dinner there. Not sure if the owner would mind, but when I go there I always enjoy a coupe of drinks and tapas during happy hour post dive, watch the sunset, then taxi back to town.
