Coz Dive Ops That Handle Gear During Covid19

That wasn't my question though. My point is that if an op won't handle the gear you use that you own "due to covid" then surely they won't handle the gear that you use that you rent. So are these ops that are refusing to handle your gear and blaming it on covid also refusing to rent gear?

And my response wasn't that specific, either. As to the question above, I have no idea.

More dive ops have you keep your regulator. Aldora has you keep regulator and wetsuit but I would keep my mask also. So I would carry mask, regulator and wetsuit. BCD, fins and weights stay with dive op.

So adding camera gear (especially you dial strobe, SLR guys) I can see it becoming a haul.

I suspect the pair to be rebuilt fast and them charging usage fee again. It was never a problem the cost (2 dollars) but the way you had go pay was an issue.

What you choose to do for yourself isn't the same issue as having that choice forced upon or taken away from you. You always had the choice to not use the rinse tank long before covid. You seemed to be suggesting that any op allowing a customer to choose for themselves to allow their gear to be handled was being irresponsible by failing to take "safety precautions for their clients". I don't know of any valet op that ever required a customer to let them keep and rinse the gear.

Does your reasoning apply to living in Tx where you are required to wear face covering when in groups or entering stores. Yes you have a choice to wear a mask or not leave your home. I'm saying with the current COVID situation I prefer shops that take my safety into account. To each their own. This is my last post on this subject.

And I'm saying that your implication that shops that handle gear are not taking safety into account is both ignorant and offensive. There are many who think that people should not be leisure traveling in the midst of a pandemic and that you are being irresponsible and foolish by going to Coz in the first place.

Until more or less recently, BlueXTSea and Aldora will not take care of your wetsuits.
Regardless, this is a list of fine dive ops.
Add Blue Magic to the list of full valet shops.

And then add ScubaLuis, he does full valet as well.

If you talk to some of the dive ops, they can explain there disinfection procedures. I know some add disinfectant to rinse tank, don't handle wetsuits (nasty washing wetsuits together anyway) and have you take your regulator for you to wash.

Again I would keep my wetsuit, mask and regulator and they can rinse the rest in there wash tank with disinfectant.

Also, you can wade out to the boat on the beach if there is no dock. They will get the boat close to shore, put on your wetsuit (your gonna get wet anyway) and walk to the boat in waist high water.

So my preferred dive op for over 10 years wants you to take all your dive gear every day off the boat, which is everything except for tanks and weights which they provide. You forgot about the camera gear. At my age it's just to much weight to haul twice a day at the the distance to the other pier. I go on vacation to relax and dive. Will wait until Apr/May of 2021 to dive Cozumel again. In the meantime will do Roatan and Cayman Brac.

I understand concerns but you could always check other ops and see what they are doing. I very rarely call out a particular dive shop, I live here and bring my gear to the marina but I swore I saw Maya spray my bag down with disinfectant before putting it on the boat a few times - we eat at each other’s houses, they’re like family to me and he sprayed me down lol.

Really though, consistency is the best practice. It’s great to hear that they’re doing it the same for everyone.

My dive op in Coz has everyone take reg and wetsuits. All else stays if you want.

I realize there are lots of dive ops in Cozumel. I really don't want to switch after 10 years for a week of diving. I'm very comfortable with the op I use. Yes I have the option since Secrets pier is out of commission to walk to the concrete pier or wade out into the water and board the boat. Nether of which I wish to do caring all but BC back and forth including my camera gear. This is my personal decision. Some of my previous remarks were in response to ReefHound which was my mistake. I'll be back to Cozumel for 3 weeks next April and in the mean time will visit Roatan and Cayman Brac.

None of my previous post were meant to say any ops didn't have their clients best interest in hand. My apologize if I offended any dive ops on the island.
