Just wondering how much it would cost to service a Scubapro D400. I am looking at getting one on Ebay and then having it serviced. Just wondering how much it would cost.
Looking for a good company to service my Scubapro regs. Do not live by a dive shop that services Scubapro.

I charge $25.00 per stage and parts run about $15.00 - so figure $40.00 total. Plus shipping which would run from $9.00 priority mail, uninsured to $15.00 UPS ground insured each direction.

Some E-bay buyers save shipping costs by having the reg shipped directly to me from the seller for service so in effect they only pay shipping from the seller to me and from me to them when the service is completed.

The D400 was discontinued by Scubapro in 2003 in large part because it is distinctly different to service and not all their techs, especially the newer ones, were good at servicing it. Rather than beefing up the tech training on the D400 specifically, they discontinued it in favor of the X650 which used a "normal" balanced poppet rather than the center balanced poppet used in the D400. Unfortunately the X650, while it is a great reg on its own merits, does not incportporate the coaxial exhaust valve and diaphragm used in the D400 and consequently does not offer the same superb level of performance as the D400.

In any event, be sure to find someone who is familiar with the quirks in servicing and adjusting the D400.

That is fine. I will have it sent to you if that is OK. Also, my other Scubapro regs are in warranty. Can you handle those as well?

Assuming the shipping is within USA correct?

Disregarding shipping costs for a moment, I would suggest that the most important consideration for servicing a reg, especially with a used reg, is to have it done by an expert who knows the regs intimately and is meticulous anough to make sure it's done correctly. I can't imagine that there's a more knowledgable and meticulous SP tech than DA Aquamaster. This would be especially true with the D400, which is one of his favorite regs.

As I stated earlier I am in a location with the government where there is not any service for Scubapro. I have read a lot on this site and have read a lot of DA's post to learn and to understand the regs I have.
I agree with you both.
