Today is my last full day in Costa Rica before heading back home tomorrow morning. My wife and I stayed in a house in Playa Hermosa that we found on AirBNB. It has been a great base for exploring.
I did three days of diving with Rocket Frog in Plays del Coco and had a blast.
Something to think about. If you don't want to drive much, stay in Playas del Coco. There isn't much in Playa Hermana. It is quiet and beautiful, and the beach is a short walk. But dive shops in this part of Guanacaste all seem to be in Coco. We have seen all kinds of wildlife right outside our door, and probably would not have in Coco.
This is our first trip to Costa Rica, so I am hardly expert. It has been amazing for both me and my non swimming/diving wife.
Word of caution - some of the roads here are a bit of an adventure. In the rainy season, expect torrents across the road in places. A downpour blew through one evening when I was coming back from the dive shop and it got pretty deep in spots.
You will have a blast. I don't know what will be around when you are here. It isn't reef diving. It is different from that. Not better or worse, just different.
