The Catalina islands were really nice imo, first day was raining and it was still a great dive. Second day diving was clear and sunny and even better visibility. Saw lots of White Tipped Reef Sharks, two little octopuses, lots of different schools of fish, would recommend diving there for sure.
Where is the nearest dive shop from Catalinaa and where does one stay?
Drake Bay is small, and the main dive operator, Costa Rica Adventure Divers, will pick up and drop off in their boat--at least, the did for us. Very professional operator with good guides, good management, good rental gear. Isla Caño was better than we expected--reefs are patchy, but sharks, turtles, octopus, etc. DB is really quite remote, so costs are higher than in a more accessible area--but worth it if you can square the cost. Take the night tour with the Bug Lady--really knowledgeable. And take rain gear!
Thank you still waiting on the number of divers we will have in our group. We are all Advanced or above cert divers and would like to have an excellent experience there. I have 49 years of diving under my belt now and have dove all over the world.

Still would love to have some good recommendations for places to stay right in Drake's Bay if anyone can share. Thanks!

There are a lot of dive shops in the area, I dove with Pacific Coast Dive Center when I was there at the beginning of October. On my second trip with them I met Aaron from Under The Sea Diving who is a PADI Instructor down there and have been talking to him off and on about getting some dives in while I am there in December.

As far as a place to stay, I honestly recommend AirBnB for a reasonable rate, lots of great hosts and something for everyone honestly.

Thanks! What is the town you stay in?
