I'm a Fish!
56 degrees off palm beach when it's 92 degrees topside. or so I've heard. haven't had the time to check it out. is it true?

I think it happens every summer, not sure why though

I saw some dive reports from the tech divers stating they had 59 degrees on the Hydro Atlantic (170') off Boca Raton. I didn't see anything like that posted on the recreational reports though.

The usual suspect is the Labrador current.this current is the antithesis of the Gulf Stream. It starts up north(Labrador?)and parallels the coast heading south. Also cold water upwellings from the deep Atlantic are possible. This phenomenon normally starts in late June early July here and can have some detrimental impact on Lobster season as they stay out further and deeper. This cooler water is usually very green and rich in organic material(means bad vis)Also can give a serious "ice-cream headache"

thanks for the info. I welcome that current, for it brings me relief from this inferno heat from hell. heh
