This is news to me. Anyone else experienced this? Quoting from another thread...
I just had this happen to me today. I bought tickets about 2 weeks ago from Continental to Roatan from New Orleans. We paid about $786 for the tickets. I had been watching them for quite a while and didn't figure they would get any lower and liked the times of the flight so I booked. Today i was looking for another ticket for my brother and found the exact same flights for $630 from Continental. I was sick because I shopped diligently for a while. I thought I would try to call Continental and much to my surprise, they refunded me the difference minus a handling fee of $50 in the form of a ticket voucher. Not as good as cash but not bad.
She told me that Continental's policy was to do this up to 30 days from purchase but only on fares from their website.

Where's the "news" on this?

You're basically canceling your ticket, and taking a credit less a handling fee. You apply some of the credit to your new (lower-priced) ticket and take the balance as a "store credit."

Every airline has done this pretty much forever.

"There is nothing new under the sun..."

Yeah, what is news to me is a $50 fee rather than a $150 fee.

And there is always something new in plane ticket charges & fares, altho usually not good news.

I always thought the fee was $100 a ticket.

Have only exercised this with US Air so perhaps that's their fee.

Also - like anything else the fee could change daily.
