Something amiss there... taxes should be about the same, maybe a small variance if one has more stops. Either website error or pilot error. I just searched your parameters and get $67 taxes and $734 total fare on CO.

Ok I checked that on your site, and that's just crap. When you click the link to explain the fees, it includes $250 in International taxes & fees. I don't know anything about the site, and it could be a one time glitch, but I am discouraged from using them...The flight number is 196 LV to HOU, Fl 1802 Hou to RTB $432+ $326 (-$19) = 739.70 Continental AL.......Jan 9-16 2010.....I checked....
found on OneTravel.com, the first flight listed, LAS to RTB....
Click on Book It, gives you choice of fare and taxes.
I am learning how to do this from reading what you guys have written here, so I am just wondering. Thanks.....Larry
I think you got it. That site seems to attempt to confuse the shopper into thinking they got $19 off of their fees which are just not needed - ending up charging $8 more.Yeah, there are sleazy sites out there that try to throw you a lowball price then whack you with a bunch of extra taxes and fees after you start the booking process. Ran across a few of them several years ago when I was pricing out a Coz vacation. In almost every case, they end up being more than the other sites once you compare apples to apples.
I got to wonder how that would play out tho, when one gets caught in the Continental cookies trap, then proves it by shopping Sidestep for Continental fares. I've seen that too many times. I don't now that I am Elite with them, but if I log out - it can happen. Never hurts to compare prices at one of the leading search sites.Continental, AA, and maybe others guarantee that the fare listed on their own site will be the lowest published fare online. They prefer you to book direct. Below is from the Continental website:

Low Fare Guarantee
Find Continental's lowest fare to popular destinations like Las Vegas, New York, Orlando or anywhere else Continental flies. Forget those so-called low-fare travel Web sites, because when it comes to finding the lowest Continental Airlines fare online, continental.com has it. In fact, if you find a fare for the same flight, itinerary and cabin that's more than $10 lower than through continental.com, we'll make up the difference and give you a USD $100 Electronic Travel Certificate.
Continental Airlines - Low Fare Guarantee
Sounds great to me! I never knew them to do this. A new policy to get people to go ahead and buy rather than wait perhaps...?I just had this happen to me today. I bought tickets about 2 weeks ago from Continental to Roatan from New Orleans. We paid about $786 for the tickets. I had been watching them for quite a while and didn't figure they would get any lower and liked the times of the flight so I booked. Today i was looking for another ticket for my brother and found the exact same flights for $630 from Continental. I was sick because I shopped diligently for a while. I thought I would try to call Continental and much to my surprise, they refunded me the difference minus a handling fee of $50 in the form of a ticket voucher. Not as good as cash but not bad.
