You mean I've been driving all the way up to Union to dive that crappy lake and I could have gone 5 minutes down the road. Do you live around here? You can PM me if you'd like to keep your details off the board.

Where do you enter? Have anymore details?

Well you can enter thru the woods were the dam is. This is were Moodus res meets Bashan lake. The walk up is a bit slippery and you have to pull yourself up near the dam. We did a night dive there last night. This dive takes you along a 17 ft deep channel out to a buoy were you come across the remanents of the old dam.

The boat launch is the other entry. You can dive 10-12 feet out to the island and around the island and back. Max depth is about 15-17 feet near the island. Watch out for boats and pull a flag OR TWO.

Occasionaly Ed at Diver's Cove in Essex will do his fun dive of the Association beach. I enjoy Bashan lake when the water in RI is too rough or I don't have the time to travel all the way out to RI. Its also good to get aquainted with new gear, buoyancy, and weight checks. I've dove the lake many times. Plenty of curious sunfish that sometimes peck at your nose and plenty of large and small mouth bass. On a sunny day with the sun coming in its quite enjoyable. I don't like the milfoil irradication though because its like chopping down the forest and makes the bottom bare in some spots.

Take care and maybe we can get a group at the boat launch and head out to Gillet's Castle or someplace close for a picnic.

Hey, I live in Palmer Mass, just over the line from CT. I spent the majority of my life in CT and have friends all the way down into E. Haddam.

I dont always have the time to drive 2 hours to the ocean. I havent dove Crystal lake but its only about 40 minutes from me. Ill meet you sometime for a dive, then when time is available, I can show you some sites along the ocean up here.

Gemdiver,
Glad to see you made another post here on the board. It was nice to meet you last weekend at West Hill on Saturday. Hopefully you enjoyed the rest of your afternoon and your Sunday at the quarry's. We'll definatly have to plan a group dive for all of us.

I'm going to Jamestown this Saturday morning (tomorrow) where I'll be meeting a couple friends at 7:30 at the Ft. Wetherill parking lot, in case anyone wants to meet up....

Aw, Gem, you had me all excited Saturday that you may keep diving up near me. :) Union is right over the border on 84. We'll have to get a bunch together sometime soon. Unfortunately, I'm dry this weekend.

I live on a little old reservoir in Wolcott. 55 ft. deep but below 20 gets a little dark but the vis has been great at times if you catch it right in the season. Anyone wanting to do a fairly leisurely dive out my back door let me know. Margaritas are always waiting afterwards. Haven't broken out the gear yet this year but the water is sure looking inviting. Very clean too.

I think next weekend is our monthly Beavertail dive but I am game to join you to dive a new place sometime soon.

Since we never got a chance to take you up on that offer last season, We'll have to be sure to do that this season soon since we live so close.

Shellbird, I'm looking forward to diving in your back yard. And the post-dive margaritas are appealing....
