I'm honored to tell you that my dive buddies, Brandon Schwartz and Scot Wernette are new GUE DIR Fundamentals instructors. Brando has full instructor status, and Scot has provisional status, (which means he has to teach a few classes with the training director before become a full instructor).

There are only about 30 GUE instructors worldwide, so this is quite an accomplishment.

Nice job, guys!!

Jack, as you and I know, these two guys are the best. Congratulations to Brandon and Scot!

I was there for the Fundamentals class these two were involved with this past weekend in High Springs. I took the class as a refresher and learned some things I had forgotten as well as getting an updated evaluation in my own skills. One year of practice with the skills has really helped.

I thought they both did a great job as well as the other candidates. They will definately be a great source for quality instruction in the midwest.

The most memorable part (other than the Sunday OW fiasco) was the instructor to student ratio. We had four students. There were six candidates, two interns, Andrew Georgitsis and David Rhea. Another guy there I did not get to really meet, but he was pretty damn impressive in the water. Almost a 3:1 instructor/student ratio.

WJL once bubbled...

Dan,

That ratio is scary! Just too many instructors looking for something wrong on too few students!!

All kidding aside, to have that quality of instruction for so few of divers is only a dream for most of us. You're lucky to have experienced it.

Jack

I was great. I even got to meet David Rhea. One of the interns, Jay Roney, myself and Robert Pawlak are going to get our Cave 1 training through David. He is pretty cool.

One of the funniest things I saw all weekend was when we left Subway near Blue Grotto on our way back to EE. David had his H2 on the grass and looked like he was going to ride over the curb and not use the drive. Andrew was driving a white van parked next to him. I told Jay that it looked like David would just drive off the curb and Andrew would follow. It turns out that Andrew went first. Then David backed up and drove out like any normal person would. I think it was a setup. I asked David back at the shop and he just started laughing. These guys go at it constantly.

Ask Brandon or Scott about Sunday at Blue Grotto. It is too funny for me to mention here.

Medic,

If you put together a class of 6-8 students, or more, I'm sure GUE would be happy to help you out.
