If you want to team up with GUE divers you'll have to be in backmount anyway.

I personally have no problems diving with people who dive side-mount. Problems may arise in projects, especially big ones, where standardization is actually crucial

I dive sidemount with GUE divers all the time, but that isn't during official GUE dives.

I assume you’re talking about project dives. Being able to contribute to those projects is definitely a compelling reason to go GUE.

From my perspective this grand acceptance is the internet myth.

Here’s a crazy idea, my experiences and yours can both be true. The divers in your area might be very accepting while the ones in mine are not.

I find it fascinating that my experiences are false ; tell me more.
