Congratulations to StudMuffin Diver James (amascuba) for passing DIR-F in ONE shot!
:wave-smil
I am fortunate to know and dive with James, and all I can say is he is ONE together Diver! He had a bit of Help from our own Jason, whom also passed DIR-F on his first try. They both told me they cheated, but I pointed out that someone who aces an exam because they study, is NOT a cheater!
In any event, IMO the only cheating is that James dives doubles, and the only equipment config flaw from a DIR perspective to be found on his kit is BRASS! I think the teacher (ROD, I believe) is a sucker for Halcyon equipment and doubles!
Both James, and Jason are EXCELLENT divers, and I KNOW James worked VERY hard preparing for this class. The instructor had only passed 4 of 40 students prior. To put this in perspective, I'm betting that the people taking these classes are in the top 2% of diver skills to begin with!
Seriously, when the other two students in the class with him was an Instructor, and a DM with a ton of diving under the belt, then one can start to appreciate what kind of people are drawn into DIR-F classes (the other students were provisional BTW).
K, enough back patting! Way to go James, and now you can end these boring drill dives, and come out and play with us for a change! :mooner:
