Alright do people actually wear these beanies I've just been looking at? I found one with a shark fin, which is a hilarious concept, but I'm not sure I'd actually want to wear a beanie. I hate hoods though so maybe I ought to have a beanie for summer time here. Are they comfortable?

A couple of the Carrib nut jobs I was diving with in Belize had some wacky hoods. Shark fins, whale flukes, Joker hats, etc...

Fun, I guess. Whatever. Not my scene.

I do need something for my next trip, as in every pic I'm sporting high, vertical, Lyle Lovett Matinee Idol hair.

Not a good look for me. :11ztongue

LOL- haircut!!!! that is too cute :)

sorry- I should have said- yeah, I wear one of those beanies on occasion- not ones with a shark fin though. They are OK, but I don't really like anything around my head/neck - save for my mask of course. keep you a bit warmer though.

I want a Conehead version.

I want one with Ferenghi ears

I want one that has a mullet haircut

I want one that makes me look like pinhead from Hellraiser

I want one that gives me a flat dome like Frankenstein

I want one with a huge forehead so I look like Anthony Robbins or Troy Aikman

I want one that has an arrow through my head like Steve Martin

I want one with fur all over it so I can look like the guy on the tail of the Alaska airlines planes

I want one that looks like the paper hat they used to wear at McDonalds

I want one that has a hatchet buried in my dome like those halloween costumes

I want one that looks like Marv Albert's rug with a chin strap

I want one with a flat-top bolero hat. Just so I can say Bolero

I want one with the Devo flower pot hat

I want one with an Elvis 'do and sideburns...

I want one that looks like the Charlie Chaplin hat. So I don't have to say Bowler.

I want one with an Abe Lincoln hat - where Abe's distinctive beard sans moustache look can be velcro'ed on and off to create the look I want for that dive

I want one with a Tierra like a friggen Prom Queen

I want one in the shape of a Fedora. So I can say Fedora.

I want one with the JFK meets Sam Donalson meets Alfred E Newman perma wave bolt on hair look.

I want one that looks like that tweed Sherlock Holmes Deer Stalker cap

I want one that is like a space helmet - a one small step for man type thing

I want a mortarboard with tassle. Bright green. Old school 70's high school style.

I WANT A BLUE, 1MM NEOPRENE L.A. DODGERS CAP

I want a black spikey job like Darth Raider. But not really.

I want one like Martin the Martian (with the brush, and the side flaps)

I want a bright silver one like a Knight of the round table...

What I really want is a viking helmet. Now we're talking...

Are you getting the idea? I don't want to look like some "fun" carribean diver wearing some fruity 1mm hood with happy colors and crapola. Please. Save that for the tired, soft 50-something resort divers.

Find me one of the above, I am ALL OVER IT

I kinda like the idea of the pin head one- now that would scare the willies out of the vacation dive crowd.

I do when it's the right thing to wear.

For my warmest ocean skin dives in Maine I will use one with a 5mm full suit. It's a treat to have my neck unencumbered. I've also worn the same protection for dives to 40' in a local pond, it was just enough.

I have also been known to sneak one under the 5mm hood of my chicken vest to give it just a bit more warmth.

I think mine's an Akona with the velcro chin strap closure.
