What an interesting idea I have in my head.. a lot like the one with the fella on the line... how long are the jacks, i.e. how far do they go out?

Would it be bad form to have a Marine Patrol or FWC boat hitting a dive flag in the artwork on the shirt?? :D

Whatever blatant commercialism (no offense meant) may be lurking beneath, this may be a good opportunity to add a brief message to the uninformed public regarding the serious meaning of the DIVE FLAG, and how there are actually live people under there who can be mutilated or worse when hit by boats.

Given the cleverness of the Conchs, isn't there some way we could raise a couple of bucks and get some informational posters printed? Or, if someone designed a good one, they could make it available to download for printing (sorry commercial printers) at home. Then, just take a copy to your favorite marina and bribe the boss to display it for the health and safety of the divers.

Sounds like a good idea. If you or anyone else can put some ideas together as to what should be displayed, I can put it together with Adobe Illustatrator. Then we could probably even have poster size copies printed at kinkos or some place similar.

Colin, you came up with a great idea. Perhaps a map to get to the dive site or one of the dive site itself (somewhat like a self guided tour) could be incorperated. If you get a chance check out the tee-shirts you can buy for Peacock/Orange. On the front is almost a complete map of the cave system. I know Madeline has one, maybe she can bring it to the Mega dive and you can see what it looks like.

Jack - WOW! I've not said what one of my biggest motivators is, BUT about 2 years ago I had come up with the concept of the Florida Watersports Safety Council on here after an interesting encounter or 3 with boats. I've been looking for a way to pay for the set up, incorporation, printing of materials (posters, etc) ever since and had come to the conclusion yesterday afternoon that the proceeds from shirt sales should/would go to an account to be used to make the FWSC a reality! Even the idea of a little safety message tagged in somewhere and as Chuck suggested, a map of the site... I bet you can imagine my big grin right now reading these last three posts and seeing the "hey, these shirts could have xyz on it" being suggested!

Chuck - Friggin mind reader!! :lol2: Thank you for putting out there though, its a great idea that definitely needed to be voiced!!

aabond - (Sorry I don't know your first name, but I'll figure it out soon enough) Buddy, if you got the time and like to do artwork, lets talk! I have a dozen ideas and more for other sites and concepts. Lets see what we can do to work out details (compensation for work, etc.) and make this a reality! :)

To stray slightly: as a green beginner, I once returned to the boat after a dive off Captiva, and commented to Capt. Randy (?) that a laminated site map might be a novel "souvenir" and handy navigation tool. I wonder if there are any being produced?

Back to the topic, Internet sales of an item that supports diving safety should be an easy sell.

Best of luck, and keep us posted.
