I believe it has games you can play during your stops.

:lol3:

Nah, that couldnt be the reason at all.......

Actually the color screen is an enticing feature.... :new_smili

If only I could find a water proof case for my psp that would go to 300' and allow me to still play it!!! That would make those deco stops that much easier, well that and maybe a barca lounger that is neutral at 20', how cool would that be!
:eyebrow:
I bring a wrist slate with contingent plans I.E first plan is if everything goes well, second plan is if I lose one deco gas. third plan is if I lose both deco gasses and forth plan is if I overstay my original time by up to ten minutes. fifthplan is for my second deco of the day. so forget a computer and bring two watches

P.S I do love the sound of my viper bending , beep, beep, beep, beep

Dell is a great laptop, as long as you dont ever need to call for hardware warranty work......so keep it dry.

As for the Delta VR-3, its a great concept to be able to upgrade the firmware. However, if you consider the cost of the equipment required to load the upgrade, and the cost of the upgrade itself, you may find that you are paying as much for an upgrade to a computer that is 2 or more years old as you would pay for a new computer right off of the assembly line.

Just a thought........

Cheers

You will probably here it from many others:

For decompression diving the best "computer" is a bottom timer (well and a backup bottom timer). The decompression times you get via tables.

There is where the "Dell" comes in. Since tables can be generated running decompression software on them. There are lots of such programs out there ... but thats another topic.

Im just starting to get into the wonderfull world of Decompression diving and Im wondering what dive computers you guys use and why you prefer it over the many others.

Thanks
Phil

I've been diving a VR3 with table (V-planner) and BT backup since January and I'm very happy with it. I know a few divers who use the HS Explorer and are also happy with them, but they seem to be quite a bit more agressive computers than the VR3.

The games feature certainly was not a consideration when I bought the computer, but it has made my deco time go by faster (before the VR3 I would usually read a soggy magazine while decoing or play Hangman on a slate with a buddy).

Cheers,
Al.

Just went through the same thing. My whole dive buddy group ordered the VR3's. Should be arriving in the next couple days. It was a landslide on the feature side.

How long did it take you to get through the manual and be able to program the thing. Looks quite complicated!
