Compuer Batteries:

I have three dive computers. Two of them time out and turn off after diving. They have no audible alarms. They each get about 36 dives per set of batteries, (due to COLD water). The third one is about 5 years old, has over 200 coldwater dives on it, display runs continuously, and has audible alarms - and it's still on it's first, factory battery (1) with no low battery warning yet ! Explanations/Ideas?

Life times of batteries depend on many factors, temperature, device the battery is running, type of battery, whether or not your computer uses a re-conditioning cycle when battery performance decreases.....maybe give us some more information.

What kind of computer is this? I have friends that have been using computers for years, and have never had to replace the battery (and they dive a LOT). Uwatec rates most of their batteries at around 500-1000 dives. I have about a dozen dives on my SmartCom right now, and the battery percentage is still at the same spot when I bought it - 98%. And I have played with it alot besides diving, using the backlight, transferring data to PC, etc.
