Hi,

We have not one, but two, compasses that are not working correctly because they are off balance. A friend said that the part that spins has "come off the pin" and that's why they aren't working. Anyone have any ideas on a fix? Since they are non-functional as they are, I'm not adverse to taking them apart if someone has an idea on how to put them back together again. One is an Oceanic, the other an XS if that matters.

Thanks.

it doesn't, they're all made by the same company in Italy. Doubtful they can be fixed.

Consider this instead.

My Suunto SK-7s sometimes do this. I give them some firm raps across my palm which most times works. The one time this did not work, I put the thing on the shelf and it miraculously fixed itself....not making that up.. Don't become violent with the rapping on your palm. You're trying to nudge the card back onto its pivot pin, not beat its brains out..

Although I agree you don't want to rap them too hard, when they are off the pin they are garbage already.

I have two sk7 and they have both come off. Hitting them on my palm lightly or even with more force has always corrected it.

Magnet to lift it back onto is pin?
