I currently have a compass in my gauges. I find this configuation difficult to use. Is a wrist compass easier to use? If so,which one would you recommend??

Suunto SK-7, in the Deep Sea Supply wrist mount. Best option.

Second best, IMO, but strictly for rec diving (no tec diving), is the SK-7 on a retractor.

When I have students who don't like the console compass I let them borrow my wrist compass and they fall in love with it. I have to pat them down to get it back

I agree with Compudude. Suunto Sk-7 on a Deep See Supply bungee wrist mount. IMO the best option available.
