I just want to preface this thread by saying I use a few pieces of Oceanic equipment, and aside from the V12 finds, I'm immensely satisfied with the products.
That being said, I've begun hearing rumors of a common malfunction with Oceanic computers. I use a VersaPro (10 months old, 90 dives), and recently, it starting thinking it was diving as soon as it got wet, and wouldn't stop the dive timer even after I had been out of the water for 15-20 minutes, resulting in several annoying "Deco violation" beeping episodes when 2 40 minute dives with an hour interval logged themselves as a 2:20 dive (I was helping a class, and didnt have time to swap out for a new one, and depth was still accurate, timing was just off, so I felt safe, because we were never below 35 feet). It also automatically read 4-ft when wet. We opened it up at the shop and found moisture in the housing, which may have been the cause.
After the LDS I go to sent it off for work (yesterday) I was talking to the employees, and they said that they've had several other Oceanic computers with the same problems, the poor timing, the 4-ft automatic reading.
Has anyone else has this problem? Was it just from moisture inside?
