We aren't diving today, but it looks a tad bit less windy. More of a breeze / light wind out of the North. No white caps inside the reef, just a few outside. Maybe it's settling down. Windguru website says the wind will start to shift to an easterly wind (good) early afternoon.

It's 8:30AM; I don't see any boat traffic on the webcams and there is a fair bit of wind noise. Is the port open?

Yea.... I spoke too soon. Wind picked up considerably since 0730 this morning. I saw one larger dive boat leave the N Marina. Not sure if it was 40' or bigger, but definitely bigger than the 8 person dive boats.

LOL, it's days like this ^ that I'm definitely not feeling nostalgic for The Good Ol' Days !! :D

The port is/was open today Jan5.

Today was the best day of the last 4 and the viz was 125 most of the time on santa rosa and cedral. Plenty of boats out this morning. Got a couple of big lions at 114 and 130.

My guess would be about 78 to 80. Had a few cold pockets of water yesterday due to the wind (?).

It's more likely Atlantic currents than the surface wind.

Cold pockets of water at depth are normally from fresh water springs coming from under ground rivers ashore. They happen all year long and if big, normally appear as "oily water" at the fresh water/salt water interface. I can't think of any topside weather to cause such a thing. i've run into them many times and in summer find them refreshing.
