This is a total vanity question but...

Does anyone know where I can find colored boots that fit on either the 7.25" or 8" diameter steel tanks? Colored boots for AL80s are pretty easy to find, but I can only seem to find boots for steel tanks in black.

I'm looking for boots in pink and yellow. Any leads would be appreciated.

Thanks. I don't think these will fit a (North American) HP100 or HP80 though? 177mm in diameter would be approximately 7 inches, but the HP80s and 100s have the standard 7.25" diameter, I thought?

It's not just vanity, it would be a good way to boost visibility. I searched for the same some time ago.

They should fit a 7 1/4 tank. They need to be slightly smaller so they stay on! Warm them up (hot water) and jam them on.
Looks to me like they are made for round-bottom tanks (steel).

I didn't know they still made those cylinder condoms. The way those cling to the cylinder is pretty much a guarantee that salt and moisture will be trapped and regardless of finish there will be terminal corrosion. The very notion of jamming on hot means they go on for keeps. The UK self draining boot (and it clones) was a giant step forward for cylinder kind. Even with soaking and direct rinsing down the flutes some salts can accumulate but at least they dry out quickly.

LOL! She (assumption) did not ask if they were a good idea; she asked where to find them.

This is true! I am aware of the increased risk for corrosion from tank boots in general, although I'm not entirely sure why these boots in particular couldn't just have some holes drilled into the bottom to make them self-draining?

The boots made for steel tanks (like those I linked) usually fit tightly to the full curve of the bottom of the tank, so any holes drilled would only expose the tank surface directly under the hole. No help with draining. The boots made by UK (and a few others, like XS Scuba) actually hold the tank on little plastic ribs, so the full bottom of the tank is exposed except for where the rigs touch. Better for rinsing/draining. You still need to take the boot off now and then to rinse everything really well, but this is easy with the UK-style boots, because you can knock them off with a hammer. The UK-style boots are very stiff, so they have to be sized for the particular cylinder. I know they are made for 6.9", 7.25", and 8" tanks. You also have to pick flat-bottom or round-bottom (the tanks) models. Black is the default UK-style...especially for steel (i.e., round-bottom tanks).

I think, for colored boots for steel tanks, you are stuck with the fit-tight-no-draining boots.
