A lower IP means that the low pressure ports have the air going to them at a lower pressure. An environmentally sealed reg is a reg with a seal to keep water and contaminants out of it.

Two different things.

What is the difference between a lower IP and environmentally sealed reg?

What terillja said is correct.

however, what I think you meant to ask is why you would the lower IP? The legend LX SUPREME comes with a lower IP to reduce free flowing in colder water. You can set any reg this way. (or just about any reg, check the tech specs first before trying). On the legend series, I think it lowers the IP from about 150psi to about 135psi on the air going to the low pressure ports.

I dive a legendlx supreme, titan lx supreme, both are great cold water reg's. Enviromently sealed an lowered IP. We ice dive often an also dive lake michigan an never had any problems.

been diving in Alaska for 6 years with an Apex. Seems to work fine at 36 degrees.

Wow,

Thanks for the info on the lower IP. I dive the Kronos and do not own the Kronos Supreme which I know ships with a lower IP and is environmetally sealed.

I called Aqualung and purchased the lip shield and attached it to my reg, it makes the world of difference for me, I dive Monterey where it is really cold 48-50 degrees.

I inquired about having the environmental kit installed on my Kronos but they are on back order.

The question I have for you guys is whether or not I can have my LDS lower my IP on my reg???

Thanks,

MG

P.S
I ordered the Legend Supreme LX for my wife; I know that it comes with all these features for cold water and is over balanced on the 1st stage.

I could've purchased the Kronos Supreme but I got a great deal on the Kronos. So if I can lower the IP on this reg and get the kit installed and have the lip shield; is that the only difference with the two regs; Kronos and Kronos supreme?

Thanks,,,,

Not very well versed on the Kronos but any qualified tech can adjust the IP on a reg.
I use a lot of USD cold water regs like the Actic and Conshelf 14 Supremes. They work well and have few problems with them. The Glacia is also a good reg.
