Hey,
Whats the biggest difference for cold vs warmer temperature regs? I dive on the pacific north coast and tahoe so im doing more cold dives most likley. The first time i dove fortbragg (43low, 47high) i was using the humboldt states equipment and i doubt its a cold water reg. i didnt have any problems breathing but we did only go down 54 feet, although after looking at the cold water regs i wish i had a lip gaurd....
anyways, i was just trying to find out more info about cold water regs, i was looking at aqualungs legend supreme and glacia...but what are the biggest differences? or has anyone used another aqualung reg that was for cold that they liked?
thanks!

The Legend Supreme is the same as the regular Legend but with cosmetic changes and a lower IP, and the rubber lip guard.

They market it as a cold water reg, but it had the same exact parts as a regular Legend besides a few cosemetic changes. So buy whatever one you want based on the color 'ring' you want. You can always change the IP or add the rubber lip guard to the other.

My husband used a Glacia as his primary reg for a few years and loved it - we now both have different regs, but the Glacias are still on our pony/sling bottles. We've never had an issue with them (diving Canada, Boston area, and now San Diego).

With that said - I dive the Aqualung Legends with the intermediate pressure lowered to the Legend Supreme specs. I've yet to experience a freeze on them.

I'm just the oposite. I've got the Legend Supreme with the IP raised to the Legend spec. (I liked the 'silver pimp ring' on the 2nd stage better).

just posting this as to point out the different in the choice that the OP has to choise from in this reg.

I have an Apeks XTX50. It's an Aqualung too. Awesome breather and a great cold water reg.

THE GT3 is enviromentally sealed and is a good cold water Regulator.

I have had the Legend series regs since they came out and have not had a single problem. The nice part of the Supreme is the lip shield can be taken off and on in only seconds depending on your dive temps. I also have many friends on the Fire Dept. Dive team using the same regs with no problems.
