I have a Mares reg (MR12) that I unhesitatingly rec dive to 100’ – albeit in warmer waters -without any problem whatsoever. But, it is primarily my ‘pool reg’ and I guess I never really think of it as a ‘serious’ reg.

IMO!! The MR12 is a workhorse.....have used one for dives well below rec limits and in chilly waters with no problems.....it is a great all round reg.. ;) But I also don't like or use He computers for 'mix' diving either. :eyebrow:

I agree. The MR12s are bullet proof. I've used mine in 28F water at 140 feet in a hard working dive with absolutely no issues. I've used them 200 feet of warmer water as well.

This is my scratch pad of links and data I've been gathering.
I have not found any regs officially rated for breathing below 162 feet.
Do any manufactures come out and say they work fine to 300 feet, or are you on your own to find out how deep you can expect them to work?

I'll come out and say that Mares, Poseidon, Oceanic and ScubaPro regulators work just fine below 300 feet.

TheStosh:
...

I'm looking for suggestions for popular regs for cold diving ( 40 degrees and lower) and for deep diving ( 200' - 300')....

According to Undercurrent, July 2007:

"After testing of multiple regulators, NOAA found Oceanic's Delta IV to be the most reliable".

"It consistently came up first for meeting all our criteria, and it won't freeze up in cold water", says Lieutenant Eric Johnson of the NOAA Diving Program.

The article continues:
"NOAA bought 350 of the regulators and now requires its 500 divers to use that model when diving in water temperatures of 50 degrees or less."

Poseidon Xstream is approved to 200 meters. Poseidon

I am in the same situation here. I already have an Atomic B2 for my single tank setup, but I need to get two more for the doubles. Would getting an atomic M1 for primary and Z2 for secondary be a good choice? Or will the Z2 just have too many problems with the cold? I don't really plan on diving in temps below 50F, but you never know what the future holds.
