I have been diving for a few years and enjoy the deeper and colder stuff from time to time. I am working towards getting more tec training and gear as I go along and am looking at purchasing another regulator setup and dive computer so my wife can go diving more often without renting gear.

I figure I might as well buy higher end gear for me and let her use my experienced gear that we are both already familiar with. ;)
We both got certified at the same time, but she doesn’t dive as much. In the same week I'll log 32-36 dives and she might log 10. I think I have more dives below 100' than she has total. So she is ok with buying gear that is safer for my style diving and getting my old gear wich is more suited for her style.

I'm looking for suggestions for popular regs for cold diving ( 40 degrees and lower) and for deep diving ( 200' - 300').

I'm also looking for suggestions for popular computers to handle multiple breathing gasses typical of deeper dives.

I have read about a lot of different models, but am curious about what is actually being used by tec divers in the environment I am working toward.

Please limit replies to manufacture, model, average price, link to where to find more info, where to buy, and why you like it or think it is great.

A lot of diving there Stosh.... average 4-5 dives/day (7 day week).

There are many computers that handle many gasses, all can get you killed if you do not have proper training. My suggestion is to spend money on training and progressively gaining experience. The depth range, not to mention the temperature, is going to be deco dives, short BT, long RT, multiple gasses and switches. This requires concentration, ability to hold STOPS and manage emotions.

so with that: VR2, VR3, X1, Nitek He, Abyss Explorer, and some others. Prices range from 800's to 2000+

You can't go wrong with Apeks Regs. I have several. I've had them in 37f water with no problems.

For deeper stuff I use a Suunto Vyper in guage mode, and dive tables. Either RGBM tables or tables cut from V-Planner. The money saved by not buying a mixed gas computer can be spent on other needed equipment and training.

I enjoy my Apex regs (xtx200) for cold deep water also. My Atomic M1 (kind-of environmentally sealed) also breaths great in cold water at depth.

As far as average price, links to manufactures and more info and stuff, come on, man. You have to do some of the work! ;)

Actually, those are more like 5 day weeks since I have to use the weekends for getting there and back. The routine I normally shoot for is Midnight, 5AM, 9AM, 11AM, 2PM, 5PM, 8PM, 10PM, but 1 or 2 dives almost always get dropped here and there due to weather or lack of a willing dive buddy.

I'm big on getting training first. I don't mind waiting for skills to be developed. I take a lot of courses and am constantly reading and diving.

I'm not looking to be spoonfed. I just was showing the kind of info I was looking for, and specifically what I wasn't looking for. I'm not looking for a bunch of replies about how this one reg is the only one, or this manufacture doesn't make a single piece of good equipment, or you are going to die underwater.

I'm just looking to find out the equipment that people are using and why they like it. That way, as I save up money I can slowly outfit my tec gear and be getting used to additional equipment as I develop the skills to use it. After all, who goes out and buys a set of doubles, a drysuit, dual regs, dive computer, and hops in a cave that weekend with their new OW cert?

Thanks for any info on the gear you like using for the cold deep stuff.

The high end Scuba Pro regs breath great at depth as well. I use the MK25 1st stage with G250HP second stage.

I use V-Planner software and cut tables for my deco dives. There are several computers designed for multiple gases and deco diving.

I should have also mentioned that my Apeks regs have been to 204' and performed flawlessly.
