Well, for my group, Coconuts is merely one stop in an all-day excursion; it might not be worth the trip if it was the only thing over there. The whole "wild side" thing is really a daylight hours activity, IMO, so I wouldn't be over there at night, anyway. The only place over there that has electricity (AFAIK) is the little hotel next to Coconuts, and it's wind power from small generators, so there's not much of it.

And yes, they do take the turtles very seriously on Cozumel, to the point where they post guards with automatic weapons over them at the height of the egg-laying season. Best to see them out on the reefs and stay clear of them when they come ashore.
