If you want Dive Instruction and Rental Info, That's Dockside Dive Center Dive Gear Rental Program - Dockside Dive Center

This dichotomy has been baffling people for years, even the SCUBA Diving Magazines can't quite figure out which 1/2 of the partnership should be handed the award plaques for Reader's Choice Awards. Most visitors don't understand this oddball arrangement in the "separation of businesses".

They'll likely contact you on Monday, but understand that your intended Thursday arrival might cause the lodging people to do some quick head scratching.

Doc,
We're actually arriving on a Sunday evening (8/3), to start our class/ diving on Monday morning (8/4). Not that that has saved us from ignominious rejection. CCV is booked up (and paid in full, they added) through August 9, and extended no such offer as the one listed on their web page:
"If CoCo View Resort rooms are sold out for all the dates you need, we can offer a 'Special Accommodations' program that you should like. We will block an ocean front home in the privately owned Playa Miguel Beach Houses next door while we wait for a CoCo View room to open. You will be moved automatically to the first room that becomes available at the resort." :no
Hopefully, we'll start hearing back from the independent shops now that Monday's rolled around. Native Sons and Coconut Tree are at the top of the list. :11::drummer::11:

Hey neighbor.... too bad you didn't set it up earlier, my husband teaches OW class and pool in ABQ this weekend, 19th/20th. Then your GF would only have to do the 4 cert dives there.

Second, I think you missunderstand the Cocoview website. If the main resort is full, they have several small cottages right next door to the resort that they also rent - they are talking about putting you in one of those until room at the main resort opens up. They do not offer to help you get a room at another resort.
It sounds like all of those are full, too. Honestly, Cocoview is one of the most popular resorts in this hemisphere and because it is small, it tends to book full months in advance, even in the low season.

Have fun on your trip. Be sure to do a trip report when you get back and we all love pictures! :D

So, how about the REEF HOUSE RESORT?
Before giving up completely on the all-inclusive experience, thought we'd give that one a go. I saw it mentioned briefly in passing a couple of times in this forum, always in a positive light, but no details, really.
Sorry we didn't get the opp to hook up for the confined water in ABQ, Robin! If we'd only been able to foresee the crazy twists of vacation karma...

Hi there,
Just been checking thru my emails and i don't appear to have an enquiry from anyone arriving the dates that you mentioned, would you like to contact me personally on scubaboard or send an email to coconuttr eedivers@gmail.com (minus the space of course) would be more than happy to answer any questions queries you may have regarding the diving and socail ativities on roatan.

Warmest regards,

Thanks for the help, Scuba Boarders. Looks like we're getting this sorted out nicely now. It'll be an independent West End operator for this trip. Great responses from several companies (Native Sons, Coconut Tree, and Reef Gliders) - could've gone with any of them, we'll have a reservation by morning. Cost savings over CCV and other resorts has turned out to be huge - only disadvantage is it looks like we'll be limited to 3 dives a day plus night dive. Life could be a whole lot worse...
:bananalama: Off to Roatan, via Guatemala!

Let us know how the economics work out.

Be sure to check in with Will when you get there.
