Does anyone have experience with Cochran's EMC-16. My instructor/buddy swears by his EMC-20 and I found a new-in-box EMC-16 for $500. Can't find any info on what the original retail was for these. Any comments or info would be appreciated.

techdivinglimited has them for sale, new with manufacturer's warranty, starting @ $ 600

Cochran EMC-16 [DC-Cochran-EMC-16] - $598.50 : Tech Diving Limited, a subsidiary of Scuba Training and Technology Inc.

so, you're 'saving' $ 100, but perhaps giving up the warranty ? However, it's possible, that depending on if 'your' unit comes with any extra cost features/options, you might be saving more than $ 100 off of the retail price. Check out the link above and it will show you the price of additional options/features so see exactly what kind of a deal you're getting.

I love my Cochran. I'm thinking about taking Joel up on his sale and getting a second one!
You should know that they're not air integrated. You'll need a pressure gauge as well.

Yeah, I've been using Cochrans for several years now (own 7....an EMC-20H and 6 air-integrated Gemini's) I also own/use Oceanic DataMax Pro Plus II's, and am about to start using the new Atomic Aquatic 'COBALTS', have 2 of thos on order now. The Cochrans are a very mature/proven unit, my main issue with them is that they're not super-intuitive to program, especially the Gemini's...the EMC-16 and 20's are pretty easy to use/program, so I wouldn't worry too much about them, the Gemini's are rather more complicated. I'd say the EMC-16, for it's price range, is a quality/capable unit.

Great Computer, i use mine a s a back up with my alladin prime. You can put multiple software on it for different mixtures:shocked2:The price is not bad also.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I should have mentioned that the $500 includes configuration for 1 FO2 (all I need right now) plus the standard version of Analyst so seems like that's about 40-50% below retail. I'm checking into the warranty situation with Cochran since this is still in the box.
