Interesting. I think of "easily" as "well within my physical abilities". I could easily walk 10 miles in freezing rain, but it wouldn't be comfortable. More to the point, as a former water polo player I can easily swim up a lot more weight than I'd be comfortable with.

I can swim up and stay up for a bit holding two diving bricks, but I wouldn't call it "easy", nor "comfortable". It is well within my physical ability but "easy" is not the word I'd use: it's more like "work".

Not quite Marty. Despite all the assumptions, we really don't know what happened.

I think @MrChen has provided the best insight we can expect so far as relayed to him by a dive buddy on the boat with the incident.

Not all. Almost all. That's the problem.

Unlikely to be solved. Short of following pre-dive BSAC procedures, this is just de rigueur for almost everyone on every dive boat in the Caribbean or anywhere warm. In fact I get strange looks when I check my gear prior to splashing.

I'm always surprised that more people in the local community don't take it upon themselves to search the bottom for the victim in the next day or two after the accident. Seems like they should know about where he went down. Is anyone searching?

Most rec divers don't have the proper training for search and recovery, nor would they necessarily want to get in the way of trained professionals, fire dept, coast guard, etc etc - especially if there is a potential incoming lawsuit against the charter/captain/DM/dive store

There is still a chance they will find the body but it’s probably off of Boynton Beach by now. It could be wedged under a reef. I think a lobster diver or speer fisher might be the most likely one to find him because they’ll be close to the bottom looking up under the ledges.

Surprisingly most recoveries done in SE Fla (even with currents) are found just a few hundred feet from their last 'seen' point. True-some experienced divers are never found (Nikki, etc). Or it's a beach recovery. In any case, it take ALOT (30-40+)divers to cover a preplanned bottom drift line. I've been on 4 of those volunteer team dives and it takes alot of boats and alot of communication.
