Check my thread in this forum about the incident in Orange Beach on Saturday. Sounds like almost an identical incident, but the boat radio’d the Coast Guard immediately and the diver was extracted and was in the air headed to the chamber within about an hour of making the call. I know Destin is about 40 miles further east and I don’t know the severity the diver was dealing with, but I assume he dove a similar profile as his buddies who surfaced with no issues.
At a minimum, why wasn’t anyone in the water with him for IWR?
All that said, we still have very little info and I do not feel like I know enough to make any assumptions about what should or should not have been done.
