Does anyone make an empty computer boot for puck-style computers with a clip instead of a wrist strap? Basically, I want to convert my backup computer, which I currently wear on my wrist, into something more like the Oceanic B.U.D.

Thanks.

Have you looked at Deepseasupply ??.....They have bungee mounted computer holders for various brands.....

I might be able to make that work. My computer (Mares Puck) isn't listed, but I think it's the same size as the Aeris computers they have listed for one of them. Add a few zip-ties and a clip, and that might fit the bill.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Or you could skip the mount. http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/co...alyzers/372752-mares-m2-puck.html#post5771293

Use cave line instead of bungee cord and tie it off to a clip. You could probably even feed a couple cable ties thru instead.

Or maybe this would work:

If you try the set up shown by diversteve, regularly ck the 'pins' that the bungee goes under....They are spring loaded, the springs are thin and corrode easily....Keep them clean and greased and they'll be OK......

I tried the mount from DeepSeaSupply, but none were quite the right size.

I really like diversteve's suggestion, and I will probably wind up using that. It looks simple and rugged.

I had to give one other option a try, though. It occurred to me that this was the perfect opportunity to try 3D-printing a part. I designed an adapter that pins in place of the wrist strap and gives me a ring to attach to. I got it tonight. It fits perfectly, and it feels nice and sturdy, but I'm not sure I trust it enough to actually use it in the deep, blue ocean.

Here are a couple of shots of it mounted on the computer.

Or you could just stick it in a pocket. My spare computer has travelled in my bcd pocket (right next to my spare light) for many years now. Out of the way and always with me.
